Class One of Five! Each Thursday in June and the first Thursday in July, Seattle Public Library’s Lake City Branch will offer Stress Reduction & Calming Techniques for Adults with Siobhan Kekoa, a 5-part wellness series taught through the lens of an Afro-Indigenous Medicine Practitioner.

This trauma-informed series will provide both practical stress education and calming techniques to help you feel more present and safely grounded in your body, mind, and daily life. Together we will explore wellness and healing through Traditional Medicine, somatic practices, art, music, and reflective writing.

2pt Series: Quill Earring Making Class for Teens (Class One)

Class One of Two! This June, Seattle Public Library’s Lake City Branch will offer Quill Earring Making for Teens with Siobhan Kekoa, a 2-part cultural preservation series taught through the lens of a mixed Afro-Indigenous Wabanaki-descent Artist, Culture Keeper, and Medicine Practitioner.

This class will introduce students ages 14 - 18 to the basics of Quill Earring making in the style of my Wabanaki heritage as taught by my Elders. We will also honor Porcupine and its Medicine. All necessary materials are provided, and students will bring home a complete pair of wearable, individually hand-made single loop quill earrings with a simple tie off at the top.
