Class Two of Five! Each Thursday in June, Seattle Public Library’s Lake City Branch will offer Stress Reduction & Calming Techniques for Adults with Siobhan Kekoa, a 5-part wellness series taught through the lens of an Afro-Indigenous Medicine Practitioner.

This trauma-informed series will provide both practical stress education and calming techniques to help you feel more present and safely grounded in your body, mind, and daily life. Together we will explore wellness and healing through Traditional Medicine, somatic practices, art, music, and reflective writing.

Class One: Introduction to Stress, Anxiety, Mindfulness, & Coping Strategies

Class Two: Accessible Techniques & Practicum (i.e. science & practicum of mindfulness, somatic body-mind connection, Reiki, grounding practices, etc.) 

Class Three: Finding Your Stress Reduction Anchor (via Music, Movement, Art, Journaling, "touching grass," etc.)

Class Four: Indigenous Plants as Helping & Grounding Remedies

Class Five: Nourishing Sound Bath, Final Practicum, & Closing

Dates: Thursdays June 04, June 11, June 18, June 25, and July 02, 2026

Time: 11:30am - 12:30pm

Intended Audience: Adults

Max Audience: 40

Educator: Siobhan Kekoa is a professional educator and artist with over 20 years of multi-cultural and intersectional experience; a PTSD and Mental Health professional and mentor for individuals of all ages and generations; disabled combat veteran, DV survivor, and full-time solo mother.
