Event: Burke Museum Artist Studio Demo

Come visit me at the Burke Museum this coming Saturday, October 17th, between 10am and 5pm!‍ ‍

Recently I was invited to be a guest artist at the Burke Museum’s Artist Studio, in celebration of Indigenous People’s Day! To say I am absolutely over the moon for this honor would be an understatement.

Since the first time I visited the Burke and noticed the Artist Studio, I began dreaming of the possibilities to collaborate and potentially work within that space. In winter of 2025, my Ancestral Quill Jewelry and fine art prints were officially installed in the Burke Museum’s store.

As I mentioned in my prior post, this stunning museum is affiliated with the Smithsonian and located at the University of Washington in unceded Si’ahl (Seattle), and is incredibly dear to my heart. The Artist Studio space within is used in part by “visiting Native artists, Indigenous artists, and diasporic communities” from across the globe. Through this studio, artists engage with the community to showcase their vibrant cultural preservation by sharing “their art, knowledge, and cultures through educational live art demonstrations”.

This coming Saturday, October 17th, from 10am until 5pm, you can find my demo in the Artist Studio! Throughout the day, I’ll be making pairs of my Wabanaki-style Ancestral porcupine quill earrings, some of which will be available for purchase.

I’ll demonstrate my entire process of quill prep, pattern design, and earring building. Although I won’t finish my longer earrings in the studio, as elements are closed practices within our family, I will complete smaller pairs in person. (The latter are similar to those I teach others to make in my Quill Earring Making and Cultural Preservation Classes.)

So incredibly excited to meet and share with the community, I hope you stop by and say hello!

Also, visit the incredible Off The Rez cafe inside the Burke Museum! I highly recommend their Buffalo and Wild Rice bowl, and iced blackberry tea.
