Upcoming Events (2026)

In June-August of this summer, I am teaching and offering over 30 free classes and events through the Seattle Public Library’s Summer of Learning Program! Some will be taught as multi-part workshop series across several weeks, and others are individual, “one-off” classes or events.

The topics reflect much of my life’s work as an educator for over 20 years, and include workshops on Stress Reduction, Traditional Medicine, and other Calming Techniques; Quill Earring making workshops for Teens; and Indigenous Story Telling and Craft Making for all generations. (A couple will even include Sound Baths!)

Classes and Events at various Seattle Public Library branches include:

Indigenous Story Telling and Sound Bath | Single Event, 1hr

In this one-hour relaxing and immersive experience designed for families and individuals alike, I'll read Indigenously authored and illustrated picture books My Powerful Hair (Lindstrom & Littlebird) and Charlotte’s New Moccasins (Moudahi & McGregor), and explain and perform a gentle, nourishing sound bath with crystal singing bowls, a handpan, and a bison-skin drum. This event is perfect for all ages and offers a lovely opportunity for multi-generational connection and healing. Those with small children are encouraged to attend! There will only be two of these events this summer; please see the events page for location and details.
Max attendance: 45 individuals

Porcupine Quill Earring Making for Teens | Two-Part Series, 1.5 hrs ea

There will only be one of these workshops this summer, held at the Lake City Library branch! This class will introduce students ages 14 - 18 to Indigenous quillwork, honor Porcupine and its Medicine, and explore the basics of making quill earrings in the style of my Wabanaki heritage as taught by my Elders. All necessary materials are provided, and students will bring home a complete pair of single loop quill earrings, similar to those carried at the Burke Museum
Max attendance: 15 students

Indigenous Story Telling and Beaded Bracelet or Leather Bag Making | Single Class 1.5 hrs

Offered primarily in August 2026, this workshop is designed to connect young children, youth, and their caretakers and families to Indigenous stories and practices. I will read Charlotte's New Moccasins (written by Jenn Moudahi) and guide you and your young ones through making a small beaded bracelet or a leather bag. All required materials will be provided for up to 15 “students”.
Max attendance: 30 individuals

The interactive course will include a handout for attendees to use during the session and take home, and will provide practical stress reduction, coping, and calming techniques to support and tend to your daily life.

Stress Reduction & Calming Techniques for Teens and Adults | Series, 1hr ea

A multi-part wellness series taught through the lens of a mixed Afro-Indigenous Medicine Practitioner, 20+ year educator, PTSD and Mental Health professional and mentor, disabled combat veteran, DV survivor, and full time solo mother. This interactive, trauma-informed series will provide practical stress reduction, coping, and calming techniques to support your daily life.
