This summer, Seattle Public Library’s Greenwood Branch will offer Indigenous Storytelling & Craft-Making with Siobhan Kekoa, a 5th Generation mixed Afro-Indigenous Wabanaki-descent Culture Keeper and Artist. This 1.5 hour workshop is designed to connect young children, youth, and their caretakers and families to Indigenous stories and practices.
The story being read is the beloved children’s picture book Charlotte's New Moccasins, (written by Jenn Moudahi and illustrated by Rhael McGregor), shown here!
During the workshop, you and your young ones will also be guided through making a craft such as a small beaded bracelet or leather bag.
All required materials will be provided for up to 20 students, and may include leather cord, hide, and/or beads. Pony beads may be offered to very small children, and large glass beads may be offered for older children if desired.
Please note that materials may present a choking hazard, so small children may not be left unattended.
