On the first Tuesday in July, Seattle Public Library’s Madrona-Sally Goldmark Branch will offer Introduction to Mindfulness & Calming Techniques for Stress & Anxiety for Adults & Elders with Siobhan Kekoa, a one-hour wellness class taught through the lens of an Afro-Indigenous Medicine Practitioner.
This trauma-informed, intersectionally inclusive class is designed for adults who want to learn more about:
1) the basic science of stress and how wellness practices can “counterbalance” it, and
2) practical calming and grounding techniques to help you feel more present and safely grounded in your body, mind, and daily life.
Can be particularly supportive for adults and elders without significant experience with or knowledge of mindfulness, meditation, or other holistic wellness practices.
Please wear comfy clothing and bring a journal if desired! Class handouts will be provided.
