On the first Wednesday in July at Compass Broadview, Seattle Public Library’s Broadview Branch will offer Introduction to Mindfulness & Calming Techniques for Stress & Anxiety for Teens and Children with Siobhan Kekoa, a one-hour wellness class taught through the lens of an Afro-Indigenous Medicine Practitioner.
The very real stress that teens and children experience is often overlooked or dismissed for many reasons. This trauma-informed class is designed to honor and acknowledge this!
Through this class, young individuals can learn:
1) what stress feels like in their body and mind, and
2) different ways to calm their nervous systems and feel more grounded
The goal is to help them feel safe in their internal and external spaces, especially when their lives have been filled with uncertainty, instability, or trauma. (There will be lots of movement, and singing bowls at the end to help with relaxation! Wear comfy clothing and bring pillows, blankets, stuffies, etc.!)
Max attendance: 25 individuals
